NYSC Medical Fitness

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a mandatory one-year program for all Nigerian graduates under 30. As part of the camp registration process, all prospective corps members must undergo a medical examination to determine their fitness to participate in the program.

The NYSC medical fitness examination is valid only if it’s from a military or government hospital. The purpose is to ensure that all corps members are physically and mentally fit to participate in the program’s various activities, especially the three weeks orientation camp.

The examination consists of a general physical examination and specific tests for various medical conditions, which include tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis.

Corps members who are positive for these conditions will collect exits from the orientation camp for proper care by loved ones. NYSC will never play with your health. [Read also: How To Login To Your NYSC Dashboard – A Step-by-Step Guide]

How To Get The Medical Fitness

In the past, prospective Corps members went to a military or government hospital for medical fitness. However, from NYSC 2022 Batch C, the NYSC management released a public notice to inform the general public that prospective corps members can get the medical fitness certificate at the Orientation camp.

You don’t have to worry about going to a Military or a government hospital. You will get it in camp.

It is important to note that the management requires corps members to maintain their health and fitness throughout the program. Any corps member who falls ill or is unable to participate in the program due to illness or health can apply for relocation to stay close to where they can get the proper care.

In conclusion, the NYSC medical fitness examination is an important part of the Orientation camp registration process for the program. It ensures that all corps members are physically and mentally fit to participate in the various activities of the program and helps to promote the overall health and well-being of all corps members.

Therefore, it is important for all prospective corps members to take the fitness certificate seriously and prepare adequately for it.
